Hiya

I too am descended from George and Elizabeth, William & Dorothy & William & Helene and researching the Chantrey name and variants in Notts, Derbys, Lincs and South Yorks.

I found one parish priest registered the baptisms of children  born to one family in the same parish over about ten years, under three different spellings (Chantry, Chantrey,Chauntry) so I look for all the spellings now  :)

Would be very willing to compare notes

I am an aussie who is related to the Chantrey line as well.
Edward Chantrey (1739 - 1769) was my 5th great grand uncle.

Hi Sylvia,

Yes I have access to Ancestry.com.  I've just been adding some of my CHANTRY family to the One World Tree.

George CHANTRY & Hannah LOW and Richard CHANTRY & Elizabeth BLAGG are from my family.  Don't know who William CHANTRILL & Mary HURST are.

Although I've known about them for a long while I can't place the other marriage at all - Richard CHANTRY & Susanna GREENWOOD at Newark 24 April 1826.  They were married by Banns. Richard signed his name as 'CHANTERY'.  The witnesses were William HOPKIN and Ann CARLILE.

Hi Sylvia

I believe the name 'Hurst' changed to 'Hurt' during immigration if they  are the same relative line as mine.

Kind regards

Tracey

Hello Tracey,

Sorry I've been away from Rootchat so long. Edward Chantry (1739-1769) was the fifth son and sixth child of George Chantry and Elizabeth Higginbotham. So far as I know he didn't get married or have any children.

Hi ya,

I moved to Australia 9 years ago (Melbourne). My name is David William Chantrey, born in London in London1971......my parents Michael Francis & Jean Patricia.

My family tree (Chantrey) is Norfolk & Nottingham, UK.

I was told there are really only 6 family groups with the actual Chantrey name.......... the common spelling without the e......... and our heritage is England - Ireland -France

Anyone please fill in the gaps or if you need more info let me know, but i would assume we are all related.

Kind regards

David
