you could try another search on his RE number? but before you download any, can you scan the card and post it?  i have an idea why but would like to see the card

the great war forum has a section where people post what cards they have... ???

Using just the number itself brings up 46 hits but nothing even close to his name that could be a mis-spelling.

the MIC doesn't show as much information as we'd like but,
it does show he was entitled to the War and Victory medal, but no star. So he wouldn't have left the country until 1916, probably straight into the RE then the KOSB. His medals will have KOSB on them

i've attached a copy if anyone has any further ideas

You are right, I remember now reading that anyone who entered the war in 1914 or 1915 got the star, glad you are on top of all this. Sometimes what documents don't say helps us :)
I now have a lot more info than I did 2 days ago
