« on: Sunday 03 October 04 19:17 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the following family

Thomas Brownridge married to Annie campbell white King.

They had a daughter
Jessie Brownridge born 28 March 1910, Paisley, Scotland
and a son Thomas.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Allan

Allan

You could try looking on the http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ site for Thomas in 1901.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

1910
Groom - BROWNRIDGE THOMAS
Bride   - CROSS GRACE
PAISLEY
RENFREW
573/01 0168

I found these three births for a Thomas Brownridge

1 1869 BROWNRIDGE THOMAS  M TRADESTON LANARK 644/09 1167

2 1886 BROWNRIDGE THOMAS  M KINNING PARK LANARK 644/14 0819

3 1870 BROWNRIDGE THOMAS FISHER  M HUTCHESONTOWN LANARK 644/10 1604

Then on the 1901 census for Paisley I found the following information

The address was 13 Lacey Lane Paisley Renfrewshire

Agnes Brownridge  Head  aged 49 a widow born in Cummock Ayrshire

Maggie Brownridge Daughter aged 22 single a thread pollisher born in Lanarkshire, Glasgow

Agnes Brownridge Daughter  aged 20 single a thread pollisher born in Lanarkshire, Glasgow

James Brownridge Son aged 17 single a railway porter born in Lanarkshire, Glasgow

Thomas Brownridge Son aged 14 single a butchers apprentice born in Lanarkshire, Glasgow

John Brownridge Son aged 13 single a message boy born in Lanarkshire, Glasgow

In 1891 the father was still alive  a James Brownridge aged 42 who worked on the railway and was born in Kilcurbright

I am not sure if these are who you are looking for but if they are... do let me know :)

Best wishes

Mo

Re: HOLDSTOCK family in SA

HALLO ALLAN, i saw on facebook your discussion re the Holdstock family in SA. I am a librarian at NMMU University in PE and one of our library patrons is asking information about the Holdstock family in SA. what information do you have on the ancestors James Holdstock & Ann Evingden and their descendants in SA?
There is also Thomas Leonard Holdstock from Charing, Kent, England and his wife Elizabeth Ann Dorkin, there eldest son,  also Thomas Leonard apparently was baptized on 23-02-1858 in St Mary's Church in POrt Elizabeth, born 01-05-1856. Do you perhaps have any information regarding these Holdstock families or can confirm some of this information. When did the Holdstock ancestors came to South Africa and were there more than one family that came? will chat to you again, kind regards, Roelien Clarke
