Hiya Nicola,

I am not sure whether "forgotten ten" in your message is a typographical error or means there were nine other men besides Thomas Traynor who have been forgotten. The date of his death indicates the latter. It looks as though he took part in the Easter Rising but died before the commencement of the Civil War. Please clarify this point as it may be possible to obtain more information about Thomas.

All the Best, Christopher

Thanks for responding.  Sorry If I did not make sense in my first note.

Thomas was born 27 May 1881 and died in Mountjoy prison 25 April 1921.  He was executed by hanging as he was part of the civil uprising around that time.

I am researching my Trainor/Traynor routes and I am completely stuck so I am looking for clues......  My father mentioned been told as a child about a Traynor (ancestor) being hung in Mountjoy - so I searched the net and I found Thomas - but would like to figure out who his parents were to see if I can see any connection with the Traynor/Trainor side I am working on.

Thanks for anything you can do or advice me on.

Nicola

Yes, Thomas Traynor is one of the forgotten ten, buried in Mountjoy Prison then moved to Glasnevin cemetery, with 8 others except Patrick Maher who was brought back to Limerick.

the others are Kevin Barry, Thomas Whelan, Patrick Moran, Frank Flood, Patrick Doyle, Bernard Ryan, Edmond Foley, and Thomas Bryan
