'Ask the Audience, please, Chris'
« on: Tuesday 14 March 06 20:32 GMT (UK) »
I simply cannot dechiper these place names from the 1851 Census.

So, in desperation, I thought that I might take the 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' approach. (Well, it works for them, so why not this time) :)

No Million Pounds prize, sadly - just the satisfaction of helping me confirm/eliminate a potential ancestor :)

What places do do you think these are?
..... Steven.

There's also Brettle Lane - I have an ancestor born there. It's in Kingswinford (or Oldswinford?) if I remember well.

Tanja  :)

Edit: It's in Brierley Hill

I've modified the original post with the page reference.
It's the 1851 Census, not 1861.
Apologies for the mistake.
 Look for the 'Denton' family.

Hi Steven

Nothing is jumping out as a possible here - could just be a horrible combination of Worcestershire accent & Yorkshire listening that can never be deciphered?

Regards
