Well, just to confuse you and myself further there is another Christopher Melluish born 1860 Broadclyst with parents Thomas(1828 Broadclyst) and Elizabeth( 1829 Stoke Cannon, Devon) on the 1861 and 1871 census.

Can't spot this one in 1881 - only the one born 1860 Germany who is a servant with the Nokes family.

Can't find a Christopher born 1855 Pimlico on the 1861 yet but this name is never spelt the same way twice so will have another look

Thanks or your information. I'm wondering if the Christopher  Mellush you found is the sme as the one that appears in the 1881 census as being born in Germany and that Germany is a spelling mistake on an error. I will have to check this, if I can.

Christopher B. Melluish - b. abt. 1837 Broadclyst, Devon
Christopher B. Melluish. b. 1855 St.Thomas, Exeter, Devon
Christopher Melluish shown in the 1881 census as born in Germarny - about 1860.

Hi Knobby,

This is on an unrelated topic, but I couldn't seem to find another way to get in touch - apologies!
I notice that you were looking for information about Christopher B Melluish - I am also looking for information about him as I own the shop at 70 Mountgrove Road where he ran a Butchers in the 1880s and 90s. We're in the process of refurbishing it to reopen it as a Deli (it's been derelict for many years), and I live in what is now a flat above the shop. I'd love to know more about the first family of the building.

All the best,
Jess
