Both Henry and Mary from County Tuam.
Thanks Angela.

Hello Angela,

What denomination was Henry?

You'll probably have to try the Church register route for some information about his family as there were no Civil records in Ireland until 1845 when Civil Registration of non Catholic marriages was introduced. It was another seventeen years before all BMDs in Ireland had to be registered by law.

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I don't know what religion they were so have come to a full stop.
It's difficult to try and get any info on my other relatives from across the water.
Thanks again,
Angela.

Hi Angela,
Did the Cosgrove family attend a church in Leicester ??? Were there other Irish
families near where they lived and in what type of work was Henry involved?

Christopher

Hello Christopher,

I'm afraid I don't know what church they attended. My g.g.grandfather Henry was a farm labourer his wife a Rag sorter.
There were a lot of Irish living in the St. Margaret's area of Leicester,
my g.grandfather Patrick Daly also lived in the same street and my other g.g.grandfather John McEllin lived in the next street.

Thank you for your time.

Angela.

Hello Angela,

Were the Daly family from Tuam, Co. Galway too? The 1855 Griffiths Valuation extracts
for Co. Galway on John Hayes failteromhat.com website show several Dalys from Tuam.

I've linked your Marriage of McEllin thread to this one.

Hello Christopher,

I'm sorry but I have no idea where Patrick Daly was from, on the 1881 census it just says place of birth as Ireland.

Hi Angela,

I guess it's a case of continuing the search and hoping someone spots your Daly family.

Hello Christopher,

Perhaps one day it will all come to light, I'll keep checking the boards.

Thanks Angela.
