Off on a slight tangent here Clare & Lindsay (Hi Bestest!)

I recently did a look up for the surname Umpherston (on the BVRs) and couldn't find any but by sheer chance, I found loads of them listed under Humpherston.

Like you Lindsay, I couldn't find a single Mc/MacGeechin on the 1881 Cencus disks either but I can't think of what else they might be under. There are a few Geechans ??

Hi telephonist,

Sorry, I'm not high-jacking your thread by having a blether!

I found this birth on the BRV's and thought there may be a possibility that there is a connection . . .

George MATTHEW
Date of Birth: 26 Jun 1841
Birthplace: Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland
Recorded in: Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland
Father: George MATTHEW, Mother: Mary RENNIE

Unfortunately George is the only child listed to this couple but it was the mother's surname which caught my attention.

Lots of Mc Geechan people listed on 1881 census. I also have LDS disc, try leaving a space after Mc.

The only Isabella Mc Geechan who would fit the bill, is the 14 years old Isabella, already mentioned by Claire
