Worksop Parish Records Lookup Please
« on: Monday 27 March 06 22:33 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to check the parish records for St Mary's, Worksop?

Looking for the details of a marriage between George Allen and Sarah Harvey which took place on 13 Dec 1855.

Would like father's names/occupations and witnesses if possible.

Thanks
Sam x

Hi Sam,

I was in Nottingham Archive this morning so had alook at Worksop Priory marriage register.  The entry you wnated is as follows:

13 December 1855 married by Banns
George ALLEN, 40, Bachelor, Labourer of Worksop. His father was John ALLEN, Lab.
Sarah HARVEY, 33, spinster of Worksop.  Her father was Henry HARVEYm Groom.
George was able to sign his name, Sarah made her mark.
The witnesses were William HAENEY(?) I had trouble reading his surname and it was sidways which didn't help much. and Frances SCATCHERD.

Hope this helps

Sarah harvey. (MY 3x great grand mother) was born in cuckney. Just outside workshop. She was the daughter of Henry harvey and Anne whose maiden name was Marlow.

Hi betton39

Yes, that's 'my' Sarah also, it looks like we might be very very distant relations!
