POTTER family - Kate born in Welwyn Garden City

Kate Potter daughter of William Potter and Florence Prior. Kate was born in 1904 in Welwyn Garden City one of 10 children. Florence had 2 boys prior to marrying William Potter they were Edward and William. William and Florence's children were Kate, Charles, Alice, Florence (Cookie), Nelson, Edie, Napoleon (Joey), and Jack.

Both William and Florence are proving to be a mystery. I know they existed I have a photo!!!!!

I would appreciate any assistance.

As I explained previously, the only way to be certain about this is to obtain the birth certificate.

Are you certain that Kate was born in Welwyn Garden City?  I ask because WGC is a new town which was built soon after the first world war, and was actually built in what was part of the parish of Hatfield.  The village of Welwyn to the north of WGC is an ancient settlement.

I have checked the 1901 census index, but there is no sign of of a William or Florence POTTER in the Welwyn area.

Kate Potter later Ord was my auntie and was born in or near  WGC

Kate Potter/Ord appears to have been born in 1907 if died 1984 in Hatfield.

There is a birth in 1907 for a Kate Potter mmn Webb in Royston on GRO.

As Donna posted this query in 2006, she may have more information by now.

Florence was divorced by Mr Prior for adultery with Mr Potter, divorce records on Ancestry.
