Richard Button when did he die?
« on: Thursday 30 March 06 19:52 BST (UK) »
Please could you help me locate the death of my great great grandfather Richard button. he was born in appledore in June 1853. he married Sarah Paine/Payne in 1876 and they had one son Samuel Clark button. Sarah died in the Jan-March quarter of 1880.
Richard can be found on the 1881 census lodging with David couchman. his son Samuel is staying with his aunt and uncle. this is the last piece of information I can find out about him.
I have his birth and marriage certificates.
please do not confuse him with a possible cousin also called Richard Button born in 1853 in woodchurch.

any help with this is appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

Is this the same Samuel Clark Button who married Ellen Ethel Sawyer?

Who were the aunt and uncle?  This might give us a clue where he died.

Hi Bill and Carole
Thank you for the help. I have looked up the list of Richard Button on the death indexes. The ages listed at the time of death do not relate to Richard being born in1853 or any where close.
On the 1881 census Richard's son was staying with his mothers sister Elizabeth who is married to James Swaffer. they are living at 15 Millbank Place
Ashford, Kent
folio reference 0948/59
Page 27.
Samuel Clark is listed as a nephew age 2 also there is another Nephew called John age 3 (possible brother????) both have the same birth location.
This is all I have at the moment. Richards parents died in 1884 and 1885. Samuel Clark was raised by his aunt and uncle and for many years it was believed he Had been adopted and was unable to trace the family history back past him.
