Hi

I need help with my grt grt Granfafher Michael. I only know he was born in Foxford. I have no dates for him, probably born early 1800s.
His Children were called William born 1860, Eamon, Ellen, John and Michael.

Hi kali,

Thanks for the reply. I don't think Michael ever left Ireland as far as I know.

Cheers

Sorry- just trying to clarify the info.
Was William the oldest child- if he was born c 1860 then you would be looking at Michael's birth 1820 - 1840 perhaps? If the other children were born later than 1860 - there is a possibility they might be in civil records - post 1865 to trace birthplaces, parents.
Did they stay in Ireland?
best wishes

Hi,

I don't know who is the oldest. I only know that William came to England ( He's my Grt grandfather) I think the others stayed in ireland, I do know his brother Johns son Michael John Noone went to America and settled in Pittsburgh PA.
The family still live in Foxford and various members of my family have been over there for a visit but no one seems to know anything about the history of the family.

Cheers

Ah well- not much use I'm afraid! If you know that the family in Foxford is yours (give or take a few generations) and if they don't know much then that's perhaps it!
There are Noon (e)s in Creggagh, Belgarrow, Rinnananny and Shanwar- all Foxford in both 1901 census and Griffiths. If you know the surname of Michael's wife - then this can often direct you to a particular townland.
For example, Family Search (IGI) has an Ellen born to Michael and Mary (McGuiff). There are no McGiff's in Griffiths but there is in 1901 census in Creggagh.
Best wishes with this anyway.
