Hi Jax,

well no, I hadn't heard of it! But I googled and found reference to it being an area of Nottingham city, adjacent to the Lace Market.

Try putting Hockley Nottinghamshire into a search engine and you should get results :)

Hockley does still exist, it is a stones throw from the market square, a lot of "alternative" shops are there. I use to get all my punk gear from there ;D

Hockley is a continuation of Goose Gate, in an easterly direction, after crossing Coalpit Lane (now called Cranbrook Street), towards Sneinton Market.  It's not shown on some maps but is definitely there.  Most of it has been redeveloped so Parker Place almost certainly has gone.  If your source is a Census, it might be worth looking at records before and after it to get a better idea.

I've attached an extract from Bartholemew's 1904 map.  Market Square on the left, Hockley on the right.

Hi Jax

The best street map I know of Nottm City is on the Nottm City Council site

http://webgis.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/website/nomad/index.asp?#

I have searched for Parker - no results
Place - 250 results but no Parker Place

Hi there Heather, "Punk Boy" Steve, Sherwood & Jane.
Appreciate all your replies and the links and details you've provided.
Think Sherwood's probably right in what he says,it's most likely that the buildings don't exist anymore.Street map very helpful.
Should have enough to be going on with now.
Thanx again to you all.

Jax  ;)

Hi Jax

More information:

Parkers Yard was off Hockley and was there between 1894 and 1916 at least.
