Elizabeth Burnet b 1831 Stranraer?

Hi all - I'm really struggling and wonder if anyone can help.  I have an Elizabeth Burnet who gave birth to an illegitimate daughter (also Elizabeth) in 1855 in Cumbernauld.  Mother stated that she was 24 years old and born "Stranraer, Gallowayshire" but I CANNOT find a birth record for her.  Strangely, there was another birth entry on the same page - a son to Jane Burnet, age 18, also born Stranraer.  I suspect the two are related but can't find a thing.  Anyone have any Burnets or any suggestions?
