Is there such a place as 'Earned' in Herts?
My Gt Grandmother was either born here or Eastwick.
Her name was Jane Bond and she was born abt 1809 (could have been earlier).
She married Daniel Crabb from Magdelen Laver.
I cannot find her parents and have been searching for a while now.
i originally thought she could have been born in Clavering essex but I have discounted that.
Census results say different things in different years. Her place of Birth has been recorded as Earned in one and Eastwick in another.
Any ideas please?

Hello.

There appears to be no 'Earned' in Herts, there is a Jane Bond
born 1806 at Tewin/Digswell which is just a mile or so west of Eastwick

Hi Claire,
               Just to let you know that Eastwick is just outside Harlow and very near to the Herts/Essex border and Tewin and Digswell are nearer to Welwyn.
   Trying to guess what Earned my be a transcription error of!

As far as I know she was married in Potter Street church. Does it all add up?
Yes I cant think what Earned could be mistaken for. I might go and view the image to see what it says with my eyes!

I think there is a Potter Street in Harlow.

Eastwick is now in Essex, and there is a Potter street in Bishops
Stortfoed Herts and and as already mentioned one in Harlow.

Looking through the NBI2 I can see no place that looks like Earned.
