Which board for Germany to Austalia ?
« on: Sunday 16 April 06 01:45 BST (UK) »
I have been enjoying Rootschat for several months but cannot decide if  I am able to ask questions re German relations who emigrated to Australia.
If I can which board will they be posted on?
I am sure someone will tell me what to do.

Hi Korne,

Welcome to RootsChat  :) :)

There are lots of links and tips for searching in Germany on the Immigrants board, so it's definitely worth having a browse here.

Where to post ?? My feeling about this is to keep a foot in both camps !

Post your main query on the "Emigrants to Australia" board as the trail often goes backwards through shipping lists, australian immigration lists etc.
But when you've posted there, add a reply to this topic, asking for help on your "Emigrants" board query, as there are a lot of Germany-experts here.

Good luck,
Bob

To Liverpool Annie,
No I didn't say any more because I was unsure about German information.
August Heinrich Frederick WENZEL his wife and children arrived Port Adelaide 1845 -from Bremen, Germany.   Thank you for answering and the web address which is very good. Unfortunately Wenzels initially
went to Burra Burra mine and that isn't mentioned although many Germans went there.
Thanks again...........Korne

August Heinrich Frederick Wenzel ,c1805 -
12 Nov 1881, born Clausthall, Germany,
emmigrated to S/Australia from Laudenthal, Harz Mountains, Germany along with
Mrs Wenzel,   who died 1 March 1853, and 4 children  ( the daughter  my g/g/grandmother)    The headstone for
AHF Wenzel also has the inscription
Wilhelm Multer died 16 Feb 1875 and states they were half-brothers. Multer's death certificate gives his occupation as a baker.                Korne
