Maloney and Turner Swinford
« on: Tuesday 18 April 06 21:42 BST (UK) »
Am trying to find information on Patrick Maloney and his wife Bridget Turner who went to Wrexham in North Wales and married in 1852.   If anyone has any information I would be really grateful.   Thanks

Hello Jan,

As far as I'm aware Swinford is in Co. Mayo and not Galway.

What denomination were the Maloney and Turner families? You may have to search Church records as whilst non Catholic marriages appeared in Civil registers from 1845 all BMDs did not have to be registered by law until 1864.

Maloney - Galway Valuation extracts 1855

Maloney is only listed in two parishes ... Kilcloony and Kilbennan.

Maloney - Mayo Valuation extracts 1856-7

Maloney is only listed in two parishes Mayo and Kilcommon

The Valuations are on John Hayes failteromhat.com website

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for your message and the information on the counties, that's really useful.  It's the first lead I've had to possible parishes in Ireland, so that's really great.   In the 1891 census in Wrexham, Denbighshire I have Patrick from Swinford and Bridget from Galway.  They must have been Catholics as they appear in the Catholic Parish Registers for Wrexham.

Will follow up the website you suggested.

Thanks again

Cheers
Jan
