Wild ancestor chase
« on: Saturday 22 April 06 22:28 BST (UK) »
I read a story about a vicar in the 1940s who was very keen on family history and one day he noticed a small stone in his churchyard, which simply bore the letters H W P.  He searched all the burial records for someone with those initials who may have been buried in that area, local newspapers etc, all to no avail.  Eventually, after many, many years, he discovered the letters stood for . . . . . . . . . "Hot Water Pipe".

How disappointing!!   :(
