There's a marriage for Herbert on the LDS IGI abt 1877 - just says Ellen b. Gloucester  :'(

Edit - and a possible birth for Herbert abt 1848, Father Frederick St George.

Edit ii - can't add up can I  :'( ignore this!!

Well in 1891 looks like they've dropped the 'St' and are just plain George!

1891 Lambeth, Norwood

113 Rommany Road

Her(b)ert George   32   Painter     born Paddington
Ellen                       34                   born Linton, Herts
Herbert                   13
Alfred                      12
William                    10
Ellen                         8
Rosa                         6
Mable                       3  (yes I know it's spelt like table!)
Frank                       1

All children born in Norwood, except Herbert where it states Lambeth.

This might be Herbert the son on the Militia Attestations Index 1886-1910

Herbert ST GEORGE  birthplace Lambeth, Surrey, West Surrey Regiment (TNA ref WO96/28).  He is not on the CWGC database so must have survived the war(s).
