Dear Heather and Monica,

I'm looking for information about the James Brunton and Helen Thom mentioned in your posts. I know this might be a long shot since this thread is from a while ago but hopefully you might have some details that could help me.

Steven

Hi Steven

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

I am not connected to these lines. Just helping Heather out with some searches. She will get an email notification of your post and hopefully be back on (if her email remains the same).

There is a graveyard at Newlands Parish Church,  now Kirkurd and Newlands Church following the closure of Kirkurd Church. I have the names on the gravestones, many are illegible/ eroded, but shall have a look for you tomorrow

Thats the only one still remaining at Newlands. R Brunton 1831

Newlands is a strange one, as a lot of people from Innerleithen and from what is now Walkerburn were birth registered there in the 1680s to 1700s.

Theres only 3 births of note around your time

02/02/1803   1803   BRUNTON       HELEN           JOHN BRUNTON/
26/03/1807   1807   BRUNTON       JAMES           JAMES BRUNTON/
16/11/1824   1824   BRUNTON      JANE MARION   JAMES BRUNTON/MARION BROWN
