MCWHIRTER, RICE, TROMANS, Plymouth Area.

My family tree contains the names of several people who back as recently as the 1940's lived in the Pymouth area.

The names of McWhirter and Rice were related but the name Tromans is from another branch

Due to older members of the family dying, all links with the family have been lost.

I would love to contact any descendants of these people who think that they may have relatives in the Pedmore, Stourbridge. or Cradley areas of the West Midlands. I have several nice letters received by my Mother back in the war from these relatives in Plymouth with accounts of the bombing and even a small piece of reinforced celophane that was used to put up to the blown out windows.

Yes, I do know Emily Brettell's Father's name it was Joseph Brettell. 1820
He was a sawyer by trade and originated from Kingswinford in the West Midlands. He was my Great Grandfather. His father was Edward and his mother, I think, Sarah Skelding.

His siblings, as far as I can gather were,

Eliza (Elizabeth?) 1824
Emma 1829
Robert 1831

Naturally I am now curious as to why you want to know.

It was a long shot, but I was hopeing your Emily's dad might have been William. See my posting, I have no info on any of my Joseph's siblings. Joseph being my gggt grandfather, I would so love to able to find all the families of Joseph's brothers & sisters, & like you, down to live ones of today.

It belongs to Mary Brettell in Australia, who is a good friend of mine. She has done extensive research on the Brettells, coming over to the UK to do much of it and there is loads of information on her pages listing all sorts of details.

G'day Robert,

Some time back I was in touch with Mary, but we were unable to find a connection with our Brettells. It has been awhile since I was last on Mary's site, will have another look for updates. I do have a Brettell query on Mary's site.

My Brettell info to date is pretty stale now I need new input, hence my query on your Emily. Unfortunatly no one as yet has done a lookup in the census for me. It is too confusing to try & buy the CD's
