An address on a postcard.
« on: Monday 01 May 06 10:20 BST (UK) »
I need some help. I found some family postcards at my house and they appear to date around 1900. They are sent to what looks like Lloyd Davies living at Emlyn Terrace(no number on them) at Llangynwyd. I wondered if someone could look up this address in 1901 to see if there are Davies' living there as i am puzzled by the names and i dont know if/how they are related. Nobody seems to know where the postcards came from but there are some extremely personal ones there from Hughie??? to Rose??(which carry on through what i think is the first world war as the postcards are ones i have not seen before with a delete where applicable theme).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
 ;)

Thanks both. Now all i have to do is figure out if they are related!!! I cant see how they were with a family album if they were not related. Maybe Elizabeth was a Thomas before marriage which could explain it as i have a postcard to a Mrs Thomas living at 1 Emlyn Terrace in 1912. I am so confused by all this new stuff but maybe its a link that i simply have not found before!!! I am beginning to wonder if i have opened pandoras box.
Thanks again!!

And to confuse matters even more i dont even have an Elizabeth that would fit the age on my tree! The closest i would have would be well into her 50s in 1901. This is going to be one of those mysteries that takes me til the end of my days to solve. I am going to have to knock down a few brick walls for this.

When you are able to get to the local ref library, look up Emlyn terrace on the electrol, it may give you a few answers.

Know my own library starts at 1918, the rest is in Glam records, yours may have a fuller account.

Karren, just had another look, family at no;1 in 1901 were Evans, at no;2 were Phillips.
They are the only houses in Emlyn Terrace I could find.
As for a marriage....there is one Jan qtr 1889 Bridgend for David Lloyd Davies to Elizabeth Thomas, vol 11a page 784.
How great to find the post cards though, lucky you, even though it's given you another search!!

Just checked the 1891 same couple, at 2 Gellineriol/Gelliseriol?? Cottages, Llangynwyd so the marriage is the right one, no children.
