I have a Hugh Logan who married Mary McNicol in Magherafelt on November 3rd 1861, according to the birth registration of their son Hugh who was born in Glasgow in 1870.
The name could have been spelled LAGAN, as it appeared on some certificates I have, but I am not sure if this was an error by a Scots registrar trying to understand the Irish brogue or it was really spelled that way before it became Logan. It does seem that Hugh Logan could not write as he signed with his X.
Hugh's parents were John Logan and Catherine Camp/Kemp and Mary's were James McNicol and Susan Gorkin (I think - hard to read on her death registration)
Hugh and Mary had another son John, born in Ireland in about 1867. I would love to know if there is any record of his birth as he is my gg grandfather. I am thinking there may have also been other children.
Also any other information on this Logan family would be most welcome.
