Can i claim these TITE's?
« on: Friday 06 February 04 09:43 GMT (UK) »
On the 1851 Census for Norfolk is my William and Esther.  William was born in Forncett Norfolk but lived most of his life in Banham.  He is 42 on the 1851 Census. They have lots of Children, William, John, Thomas, Margaret, James, Charles, Dennis and David, all of them born in Banham.

A couple of houses away is George Tite, aged 38, with his wife Mary.  George was born in Bunwell Norfolk, He had 4 sons William ( if he's one of mine that makes 7 in my Tree...sheesh!) David, Charles and Dennis.

I,m guessing that George is William( the older) brother.

Can i claim George as mine do you think??

Hi Fitty

It looks very promising but:

As there were no birth certificates until 1837 onwards - you need to check the various Parish Registers to see if they were baptized and what information it gave about their parents.
If the data matches up, then and only then can you claim them as your ancestors - remember, it is not about finding ancestors - it is proving they are yours beyond reasonable doubt. (sounds like a judge instructing the Jury).

But as I said earlier, it all looks very promising especially as your Tites stayed in the same place for a long period of time - and you could pencil them in as very likely.

Hi Fitty

I am researching James Tight/Tite born c 1810/11 Bunwell/Forcett. I haven't found his parents yet but stumbled across your William who I suspect to be his brother. In 1841 both are living in Hilgay. I am always reluctant to make a connection without parents but this feels quite a big coincidence. What do you think? Can I claim your William?  ;D

Hi

I have just followed the link to FREEREG and found the baptism of my James to John and Elizabeth so not the brother of William afterall but I still think there is a connection further back.

Thanks.
