It has been said for four generations in my family "Remember, you're a Moore of Mountrath." Of course, I know that families can screw things up so I have been looking for proof. I recently "found" family members that my family had never met (they in the UK and we in the US) and they were told that they came from Mountrath. At that point, I knew that there was more to this than pure lore.
Alas, having just received a report from an Irish researcher, there are no records of my Moore's in either the Catholic or Church of Ireland records (though I've now learned that they were Episcopalian for sure). I am absolutely at a standstill!
Below are things I'm fairly certain are facts on my ancestor Denis Moore. (I'm sorry this is so long) Would anyone recommend a path now that they are absent from church records in Mountrath?

First child born in Queens County Ireland in 1840 +/- 1 yr (source: child’s birth record)
Left Ireland by 1847 (source: daughter’s birthplace=Scotland)
Children were Episcopalian
Brother named Anthony Moore, born c. 1831, Queens County (Source: 1851 Scotland Census)
Nephew (unrelated to Anthony) Fenton Moore born c. 1831, Queens County (Source: 1851 Scotland Census)
