I am very interested in your David Mcknight?
my grandfather  William Mcknight was born c 1841 Belfast  son of David Mcknight a farmer[ died before 1869]
William Mcknight was first found 1861 Cumberland England  he married Ann Kneen in Cumberland 1869 his Eldest daughter Mary Mcknight b 1871 Maryport Cumberland was my grandmother  she married Robert Sewell in Maryport 1896  if this rings any bells I would love to hear from you

 thank you for your Mcknight info, my David Mcknight was also an orangeman. I have a photo of Joseph Mcknight in his Orangman sash taken c 1930 I don't know what the relationship was to G. G.grandfather David Mcknight or his son G.grandfather William Mcknight

My husband is McSorley and his uncle and grandfather were forresters in Draperstown Co derry and Stewartstown Co. tyrone. Their family originally came from Gortin so probably same family.
Draperstown: Trowlan, Quinn, Convery, Kelly, McKenna, Griffin, Sergeant, Hamilton, Taylor.
Monaghan: Duffy, McArdle
Sligo: Egan.
Mayo: Loftus.
Dungannon: Reilly, Milligan, Ryan, Harte.

Hi sounds like we have the same roots with the mcsorley name. I’m keen to know more. All I know from my family tree is Mary mcsorley who married William Floyd in the 1700 then the pake family from co Tyrone   Have you got the pakes in your tree also?  Anne
