Hi Mariac
There is a marriage entry showing in Uig for the marriage of a Murdo MaLeod and Mary MacIver in Uig in 1855 on Scotlands People at
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk This is the official (pay to view) site for Scottish BMDs and Census data. There is another entry in 1867 in Stornaway for a couple with these names.
From IGI at
www.familysearch.org, there are two submitted entries for these marriages:
MURDO MAC LEOD Marriages: Spouse: MARY MC IVER
Marriage: 30 JAN 1855 Uig, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland
Husband Age at Marriage: 30
Wife Age at Marriage: 27
MURDO MAC LEOD Marriages: Spouse: MARY MC IVER
Marriage: 06 MAR 1867 Stornoway, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland
Husband Age at Marriage: 24
Wife Age at Marriage: 26
The first entry seems more likely given the approx. birth year you have for Mary McIver. If you decide to view this cert on Scotlands People, this will confirm who their parents were. Also, given the marriage was in 1855, the first year of official registration, you will find a very informative entry for their marriage. For the first year of official reg. only, the register entries ran over to two pages and gave an awful lot of info. By 1856, the entries on the BMD registers had been reduced to a single page entry.
Regards.
Monica
