Great Catworth Parish Registers
« on: Sunday 14 May 06 13:24 BST (UK) »
Hi
Can anyone tell me whether there are transcriptions available for  Baptisms and marriages in Gt Catworth?

I am looking for any Fairey entries from 1860 forwards.
TIA

Hi Marlene

Hunts FHS - http://www.huntsfhs.org.uk/Bookstall.html
would be your first, and probably last, port of call for PR transcripts.

Negative I'm afraid.

1860 forwards is a bit modern for the Marriage Index which stops at 1837, on the assumption I suppose, that there is always the GRO index. Great Catworth is not covered on the BVRI, and it's one of the many Hunts parishes where the LDS was not allowed to film the PRs.

It seems as though Huntingdon Records Office is the only answer, with you, like me, having to rely on their research service (very reasonably priced, and very friendly and efficient service).

Regards

David

Thanks for the info and apologies for my late reply - Telecom has been having serious Broadband problems and while your message appeared in my Inbox I couldn't access Rootschat!
For the marriages there's always the Camdex site but I was keen to "tidy up" the Baptisms.
And there were so many Faireys all named George, William,Sarah and Mary Ann etc for generations!! In every family, in every village...!
Luckily my immediate family were in Connington and on the IGI so as I cannot move further back than 1760 without a miracle I am trying to get all the
Fair(e)ys in the hope I get a clue from another family!
Cheers
Marlene
