Help please - What football team is this? still looking

Hi all,

I have found this photograph in my grans box of photos.   I need to investigate to see if there is any connection to any family members.  Can anyone tell me what football team this is?   Painted on the football is: AIFC 1913-4

The photograph was taken by Hellis & Sons.

well they all look like english gentlemen to me, but the only aifc i can find by googling is a greek football team, sorry, kali.

I have been surfing around, obviously they are a London team but alas I could find nothing so maybe they were a local pub or works team

I have been goggle searching for two months now, with no luck.
I am hoping that there is a football fanatic out there that has researched football teams.

Worth a try -  I might get lucky!   I desperately want to find out who is in the photo and what team it is.

I deffinatly a football fanatic - you've got to be when you have a season ticket for Shefield United for last 10 years and already renewed next seasons without knowing if they were going up or not.

Anyway to your quest, the initals are AIFC (dunno which team it is) but the 1913-4 inicate the sason in which the photo was taken. Unfortunatly teams around (1888-1920's) changed there kit design and most of all there team name.

Etc Manchester United were once called Newton Heath whilst Coventry City at point were named Singers FC. This was due to how teams were formed (Coventry were formed by a group of singers) and sometimes teams merge with other teams to become one, Man Utd in fact went bust and restarted with the name they have today.

Another example is Sheffield Wednesday (spit!), they were formed in 1867 by a group of steel workers who worked an half day on a Wednesday, so ever Weds afternoon they would get together and play football. In the end they became professsional (not from ive seen they aren't!) and as they say the rest is history.

What I will do is hunt around curent teams and try and find any resembelance to the initals AIFC, in meantime could you please email me all information you have on this team to (*)

Try asking the National Football Museum at Preston.  If it was a league team they will know.  Not only that they might be interested in a copy of your photograph.  If they have information they will provide it for a small donation.

By the way what is superman doing playing for them?  Middle row second from the right.

                              up till now sounds good but in there club news it says that they formed the club in 1948,
i wonder if there was something before that? if there was they would love your photo for the club page on the internet, worth contacting them,   kali.

Its quite possible they went bust and re formed again in 1848. An example of this is a current Premier League club  - but who?

Well oif you look at Middlesbrough they were formed in 1875 but their badge logo says 1986 on it, for that reason that they went bust and re-formed.
