I have sometimes heard of people being described as "3rd. cousin, twice removed", etc. and have never really understood what it means.
Searching for some ancestors in Eastern Europe, I came across this "Relatives Calculator". This is either a touch of whimsey, or a useful tool, depending on how you see it ...
