1861 census lookup
« on: Tuesday 30 May 06 15:13 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for John GAUNT born 1838 in Cardington, in the 1861 and/or 1871 census.  He should have wife Elizabeth and at least two sons - William born 1859 in Wilshamstead, and Charles born 1864 in Fenlake.

Thank you, Linda

Thanks John that's wonderful.  Elizabeth did seem to "change" her  birth place periodically!

By 1881 they are living in Yorkshire, presumably for work, as John is now a plate layer on the railway.  His son William (my main interest) is a railwaysignalman.  Son Charles dies in 1891 when John and wife Elizabeth are shown looking after their grandson.  John dies in 1904, son William follows in 1907, so rather a sad little family.
