it looks like richard was a border at the household of charles and harriet rees.. mark street cardiff.. in the 1881 census doesent it?.. i would be greatful if someone could do a 1861 check ..please. thankyou..

The problem is 1871 and 1861 don't seem to throw up a matching Richard Harris born Pontypridd. Therefore without his parents' names this is not going to be easy...

Hope somebody else has more luck than me...

I understand that some of 1861 census has been lost; I spent a long time searching for one family until I found out they were probably on missing pages.  That was in Kent but there are pieces missing all over the country.

Hi Jui,
I'd say that you're right for 1881 as he is commercial traveller and paper merchant.
Possible for 1871 in parish Lantwit Fadre/Pontypridd at 62, High St, Pontypridd;
Philip Rees age 38 born Bettws occ; grocer and provisions merchant
Ann Rees age 70 born Llantwit mother
Deborah Rees age 13 niece
David Thomas age 25 shopman; occ; grocers assistant
Richard Harris age 16 born Llanwonno occ; grocers assistant (listed as relationship=Apprentice)

If this is him he is on 1861 with father Richard, Mother? Mary.

Only marriage I could find was to Mary Owens July qtr 1876 registered in Pontypridd vol 11a page 492.
