Wow thanks for posting the Pic of Archie Barratt. Do you mind if I take a copy for my records? I have been collating photagrahs of all the crew for a project I am working on and have around 335 of them now. I have been looking into many of the crew and uncovered a few surprising details.

Surving Trimmer Walter Fredericks was my great-grandfather.

Beccavblack I have some interesting information on Herbert Hensford if you'd like it including a copy of a hand written letter by him. Feel free to contact me at * if you wish me to send it to you.

Cheers,

Dave Fredericks

While researching my family tree I discovered my wife had a first cousin on the Titanic.  He was part of the H&W Guarantee Group - Frank (Francis) Parkes.  It appears Frank was 'unique' - in that he sailed on the maiden voyage of both the Olympic and Titanic as a member of the Guarantee Group.  As you will know - all members of the Group were lsot.  His body, if discovered, was never identified.

Apparently my great great grandfather worked in the shipyards building the Titanic. I'd like to know how I can verify this? It's simply a family legend at this point.

His name was Thomas McCluskey. He was born on 9 Sep 1876 in Mayo, Ireland. He was living in Glasgow, Scotland since he was at least 4 years old. He worked as an Iron Dresser. I don't know when he would have gone to Belfast to work on the Titanic, whether he was already working there or went there to work on the Titanic specifically.

Do any records exist for the workers who built the Titanic?
Knighton in Huntingdonshire and Northamptonshire
Tweedie in Lanarkshire and Co. Down
Rodgers in Durham and Co. Monaghan
McMillan in Lanarkshire and Argyllshire

A distant relative of mine was a survivor, the following link shows a letter she wrote home to her parents from the Carpathia.

Hi.

My late grandfather Bernard Arthur Barratt told me that Archie Barratt who was on the Titanic was one of our relatives.  I paid no heed to this claim at the time but since his passing in 2012 I have tried to find out how we are connected.. if at all.
