I didn't have any rellies on either ship, but my husband's grandfather booked people on to it. One of his occupations was agent for Cunard. At the same time he owned a pub, was a magistrate, ran a shop and had 9 0r 10 children. He was also the last man to leave Granard when it was set on fire.

There was a Walter Binstead ,Trimmer/Fireman,not known if he was one of 'mine' yet,but as I followed the same 'trade' for a time,it would not now suprise me!
How anyone managed to get up from the bowel's of such a behemoth of a ship beggar's my imagination! He must have been off
watch.Lucky boy!

My Great Grandmother was ment to go on the Titanic but at the last minute didn't. Appearently someone on my Fathers side died on the Titanic but i haven't found out who it is yet. A relative on my Brother-in-law's side of the family was one of the lookouts who was off duty when it struck the iceburg.

Family gossip has it that Titanic 2nd mate Lightowlers is related to the Lightowler side of my family. He survived gave evidence and went on to take his yacht 'Sundowner' over to Dunkirk to rescue soldiers from the beaches, that was in his retirement.
I would love to find the link.

Sorry Graceland, I meant the link between Lightowlers (of Titanic and Dunkirk fame) and my Lightower rellies. But that's terrific, thanks
