Blimey, all I can say is thanks guys!

Not sure where my brick wall came from, but I am sure you know what it's like, sometimes you just can't see for looking!

Thanks so much for all your help, has given me the impetus to keep going now.

If you are liking the John Turnbull and Barbara family there is a marriage of John Turnbull and Barbara Bailey 18 July 1829 in Bishopwearmouth.

Hi Strawberry mivi

not sure about these forums or if you get a email direct so lets hope this gets to you.

The lady you ask about I have some information on and some photos if i can find them.

Her father William Turnbull is my Great grandfather. I am desended from Fredrick a brother to your Sarah. my surname is Turnbull.

I have a bit more information on the family if you are interested.

I will try to find the photos.

I dont know why she was given the names she had but i would guess they were relatives surnames.
the eldest brother has the middle name Appleton which was William's wife's maiden name.
best regards

how can we exchange emails without the world finding out.?

You are not allowed because you have only 2 posts.  Answer this one and then you can do the PM's.

Do you want the parish information on Barbara Bailey?, there is maybe a better marriage to a Barbara Ridley--one for birth 1808 and another 1809. (marriage Jarrow 1827.  Both Barbara's were born Penshaw but Barbara Bailey was about 1802.

Hi Janis

I've assumed (I know, never assume!) that Barbara Bailey is the correct one, as 2 of the children were given Bailey as middle name.

I have, however, struggled to find the link to their marriage - do you have access to it?

John and Barbara are the furthest I've been able to get back, I keep being distracted by other lines of research, really must get back to those Turnbulls...

I have a microfilm of Penshaw and can provide info on Jane.  I wasn't paying attention enough to note that there is a name Bailey in some of the offspring. (In 2006 I was not today though)  Just date wise the better one might be the Jane Ridley.

Baptisms Shincliffe St. Mary:  William Turnbull 2 July 1843 s/o John and Barbara
Margaret Hannah Turnbull baptised 4 Oct 1846 d/o John and Barbara

I only have a simple transcript for Bishopwearmouth 1813-1839-just the name and date.

Hi Janis

Yes, if you have the Penshaw microfilm and could provide birth/baptism info for Barbara Bailey that would be amazing.

Thanks so much.

Maureensman and I are currently sharing info and making connections which is great after all this time
