I did see #5 above, however since yesterday, I have been searching for Clarkinsons of any age, anywhere in UK and this is the only place it comes up. It seems to be a mis-spelling although the banns are clear and no other name other Clarkinson. Howerver I was reading the 2 of 3 as "2nd and 3rd" banns proclaimed, i am not sure of the practice but the banns record reads to me

"December 4th 1814 Robert Henderson and Janet Clarkinson both in this parish were proclaimed in order to marriage for the 1st time. December 11th, 1814, the above named persons proclaimed for the 2nd and 3rd times.

 Dec 29th see page 18."

The Banns were proclaimed three times - for 'any just impediment', etc., to be forthcoming. The couple would then marry.

Can I bring the following to your attention,

This was input by Sammiboy and states that the Morham parish records were kept in a poor state. Having seen only 1 transcript I can see where he is coming from.

Hi,
The sons of the marriage were all born in Scotland, James b1815,George b1818 and Robert b1819 in Morham-only George appears in England-married and died there in Sussex. The others don't appear in Scotland or England, maybe they emigrated or died?

Hi CR  :)

It seems a long time since we looked at this one. Are you still brick walled or have you got any further?

Hi Gadget,
Yes I'm still brick walled-there doesn't seem to be many Clarkinsons' about who'd be local to Haddington. There must be someone out there who is related to her family!

I'll have another look around this coming week if you like  :)

It is very difficult, especially if one can't get to Edinburgh. Often the Kirk Session Minutes are the most useful in these cases. I've got similar problems in Kirkcudbright  :(

Hi Gadget,
It would be great if you could have a look for me. Living in the south of England-its too far to Edinburgh fo a day trip!
Many thanks.
