BAKER, England, WWII
« on: Saturday 17 June 06 09:09 BST (UK) »
Looking for my grandfather's cousin but have little information.
Margaret E. Gilmore "Maggie" Kennedy born 11 July 1893 (Co.Londonderry) 'trained as a nurse'. Married Arthur Baker (English?). Had at least 1 son.
Letter written by her mother to relatives in U.S. during WWII says Bakers home destroyed by bomb, son fighting in Egypt and Maggie back to nursing.
Maggie's mother died Feb.1951. Brothers tried to find her (even hired detective I am told) but unable to trace her.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I am not sure you have made your self clear on who is your Gilmore?
How does the name Gilmore fit into Margaret's family line ?
Is it Margaret E. Gilmore Kennedy as in a double barrel name? or was she married twice and her maiden name was Gilmore then married a Kennedy and later married a Barker?
Where abouts exactly were the Gilmore's from as i have many parish records for the north of Ireland  for this name?

I never said Gilmore fits into Margaret's family. Margaret E. Gilmore KENNEDY (maiden name KENNEDY as I said before) had Gilmore as a middle name. She was the daughter of Samuel KENNEDY. I have information on the family in Ireland but it's Margaret's life in England and what happened to her after 1950s that's the mystery.

Seems very strange to give some one a middle name of Gilmore and have no connection to any Gilmore's surname?
