By the way here is the congregational hall said to have been built by
E J Henderson, although this site suggests that H S Trigg built it http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/AS10217b.htm either way there must hve been a close assosiation bettween the two men.

That is fascinating Denn,
Just reading Gilbert's record you can pick up that he was an extraordinary person.  He entered 2 wars and was an officer.[NAA]

The photo is beautiful.
hope evryone sees it before the mods whizz it off because of copyright like they did with your lovely Bricksworks pictures in the Colyer story.

This is part of information I got when I googled Edgar's name

"Congregational Hall has a close association with H. S. Trigg, grandson of the founder of the Congregational Church in Western Australia.  Congregational Church has a close association with the architect Edgar Jerome Henderson (Criterion 2.3)

In 1906, the size of the congregation had grown to the extent that a Church could be built next door.  Congregational Church was built, in 1906, to a design by E. J. Henderson, and expresses Art Nouveau influences in its stained glass windows.

Edgar Jerome Henderson was born in Melbourne, and practised in Victoria where he did some church work:  Sale Cathedral (1885) and housing in Moonee Ponds and Essendon.  By 1896 he had moved to Western Australia and was working on the Convent School, Highgate (1898) in a partnership style Jefferies and Henderson.  By 1904, he is listed in his own practice and designing various commercial and residential buildings"

On National Archives website that Magoo gave is an Edgar Henderson Architect, listed as one of seven Western Australians receiving New Years Honours ( 31 December 1960)

Another relative perhaps....... ;D

It's intersesting to know that the above names of Trigg and Henderson are both suberbs of Perth - is it possible that there is a link?

re the suburbs names i had a look at an interesting site from the lands department that tells you about the names for the suburbs of perth
HENDERSON  was named after ADMIRAL REGINALD HENDERSON IN 1973  apprently it is also known as hendersons naval base

TRIGG is they think named after HENRY TRIGG who was the superindentent of works for the colony in 1838 to 1851

Jenn,
Thanks for that info, I had been thinking that possibly because both names had been prominent families. but thank you for that, and is it possible to let us know the site - PLEEEASE.

Hi everyone,

Yes you've got it Sue I modified those others to completed to avoid more confusion. Thought it easier to start with asking single things in posts but you're right gets too confusing.

Don't know what happened to Mary O'Neil or Edith for that matter really.
I'm in touch with a grand daughter of hers who's yet to get back to me but has mentioned she'll tell me what she can find.
There's a death entry on list in WA for Edith Mary BEECROFT but why would she have gone back to name of her first marriage?? seems a bit strange? - Until I see what's written about where Gilbert is buried with first wife - wonder what went on there??mystery!...talk about intrigue!

There's an age but no date of death for Edith Mary BEECROFT.
Someone in the family gave me death date of 17 Apr 1945 but not sure where???

Thanks again for all your help so far everyone interesting isn't it!!

Also looking for death of Edith Mary Clegg, BEECROFT then HENDERSON's youngest daughter - Margaret Rebecca BEECROFT born 1909 Hyde Cheshire, married Louis Philip JOUBERT not sure when but assume in WA. I know she died before 1980 but again not sure of date or place.
Maybe someone can dig her out!!!!

Would also love to find out when Edith Mary BEECROFT came to Australia - soon after her husband died I suppose in 1912? Any ideas!?

How cool is this stuff!!!!! Wish all my lines were so interesting. Although I have got another line with intrigue in the West! I might post for some help on at some stage!

Gotta love Perth been there few times can't wait to get back again - still got family there and they're unreal!

Happy hunting!
Keep it up!

Lilygirl.
