McMahon in Liverpool
« on: Saturday 24 June 06 12:29 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for any information for the McMahon family in Liverpool, or Birkenhead.  I have the following:

Richard McMahon 1867 married to
Catherine 1866
Children:
Edward 1884 (married Florence Dean, but this was second marriage)
Richard 1887
Mary 1896

I think Richards father may have been Daniel McMahon born 1841 in Ireland, but am not sure.

Any info would be much appreciate.

Thanks
Debbie

Hi MoJo

Thanks so much for your very quick reply, that is really helpful.  I had checked the 1901 census, but not beyond that.  I had found Daniel through another website, but it was very vague and showed no other information.  It looks very likely that he is the father of Richard, from your information.

I'm pretty new to the website, and have only recently started my family tree.  It's so nice, there are people like you to help.

Edward McMahon born 1884 is my Grandfather.  Perhaps you could help with Edwards wife side, where I have also drawn a bit of a blank?

Thomas Dean b1856 married to
Annie b1854
Children:
Elizabeth b1886
John b1884

John Dean married Sarah Langley b1879 (I think she only died in 1980)
They had 4 children including Florence who married Edward McMahon

Any more help you can give would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Debbie

No problems Debbie, i have to keep coming back in dribs and drabs as i have dial-up and always have lots of messages on my phone by the time i switch off the computer, i will look a bit more at the Mcmahons first to see how much more info is available, also you can access 1881 online free on a few websites, try

http://www.familyhistoryonline.net

http://www.familysearch.org

these sites are good because you can house to house looking for rellies who always stick together, be back soon...Mo-jo

Thanks a lot MoJo.  Through the familyhistoryonline website I have already uncovered the Langley family (married to Dean).  This is fantastic!

Thanks again
Debbie

Thanks for your help though, I'm confused.  Mum says her Dad (Edward McMahon) said he was born in Dublin and he spoke with an Irish accent.  Maybe Richard put Liverpool on the census for some other reason? I would have thought that is the family as mum can remember uncle Dicky and auntie Mary.

I've not managed to find any records yet, including marriages.  Edward McMahon b1884, was married twice, and I can't find anything out even about his first wife.

Any ideas where I should go next, I seem to be going round in circles!

Thanks
Debbe
