Job Boardman - Was he in Lancashire in 1841? Completed

Job Boardman made a new life in Australia sometime around 1840 but as yet I have not found a record of his arrival in the colony and he made have still been in Lancashire in 1841.   I am not sure if he came free or as a convict. 

He was born about 1816 in Middleton by Oldham Lancashire and his parents were John and Alice Boardman.

Could some kind person have a look at the 1841 census please for Job?

Hello.

There are only two Job Boardman listed ij the 1841, both
at Deane , Lancashire.
Job senior born 1786 and the other born 1826.

There is a Joob Boardman in Lancs born 1811 but he is listed
with his wife Ann at Salfor.

Lesley Uebels Convict list has a number of Boardman but no
Job listed and to old anyway.

The AVI has 3 Job Boardman references (all marriages) and
this one is probably your Job.

That is definitely his marriage in Bathurst and he is buried in Bathurst too.

His death certificate gives his time of arrival in the colony as 1840 but sometimes dates given on these certificates are not always accurate so it narrows things down knowing he was not in Lancashire in 1841 and  must definitely have arrived in Australia before then. 

Thanks too for looking at the convict lists, I have a feeling he was not a convict so this narrows it down even further.

Joseph BOARDMAN, b. 1818 Blackley LAN ENG, fa. John, mo. Alice KERSHAW,
bp. 11 Oct 1818 Manchester LAN ENG, m. 5 Aug 1849 at LAN ENG, Emma (Hannah) BROWN.  Died 27 Jan 1906 Bathurst.
Issue:
Samuel 1850 Manchester
Mary Alice 1852 Manchester
William Henry 1856 Manchester
Elizabeth 1859 Wellington
David 29 Aug 1862 Bathurst
George 22 Jan 1864 Bathurst
John 13 Oct 1866 Bathurst
He was an engineer for Cobb&Co at Bathurst and arrived Australia 1858 per "Admiral Lyons"

In 1872 there was a Job Boardman who was a miller at Evans Plains, a few miles from Bathurst.

Marvellous Liz, it looks as if Job had a brother Joseph who followed him out to the colony.
The Cobb & Co link sounds really interesting too.

Job definitley lived at Evans Plains and I see from the Bathurst Family History Group cemetery transcripts that Joseph and Job are buried in Bathurst cemetery.

Not sure yet exactly when Job arrived or on which ship as I haven't been able to find him on the NSW online indexes as they pre-date his arrival.  He doesn't appear on any convict list as far as I can tell.

Job Boardman's death in 1895 is recorded in NSW BDM Index with incorrect spelling: BOARDMEN - fa. John, Mo. Alice

Sorry, I am rather late to this party.
I am trying to trace the roots of a Jonas Darnley (1839-) whose father is shown as Job Boardman (occ.: Dyer) on Jonas' marriage certificate.
I have not been able to find any Job Boardman that fits, so a move to Australia would make sense.

Jonas' birthplace is shown as Harpurhey, Manchester in the 1861 census (& following), which is only a couple of miles from Middleton.
There may also be an 1841 census entry for Jonas (listed as Jonas Denerley, age: 1) with mother Alice Denerley (age: 20)

Has anyone made any progress on this since the last 2006 post?
