Does anyone have MI's for Crawford/Crawfordjohn
« on: Sunday 02 July 06 16:02 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Janet Hogg and her husband William Paterson possibly Crawford Crawfordjohn.  They had a child Thomas Paterson Sept 1840 but they cannot be traced on 1841 census and their children are all living with relations.

I have looked in my pre 1855 MI for the cemeteries in the area, and found nothing close to the names you gave.

Thanks for checking, this couple are a total mystery.  I think I will have to give up looking for them.

Can I be really cheeky and jump in on this one?   Would you have a listing for Sophia (Espie) McDonald pre-1840 and a William McDonald and Agnes (Hislop) McDonald around 1850.  (Crawford/Leadhills)

I would be really grateful if you could look.
Ayrshire: McCormick (mack); McFadzean; Kerr; Brown; Paton; McGregor; McDonald; Moffat; Connel; Bone
Dumfries/Lanarks: (pre-1840) McDonald; Moffat; Bone; Hamilton; Hyslop; Sandiland; Bredwood; Kerr; Brown
Ireland (pre-1820) McCormick (Monaghan)

There is only one McDonald in the Leadhills cemetery pre 1855 (none in Crawford/john) it is transcribed:

Walter Weir 25.12.1827 59, w Jane W 11.8.1828 57, da Jean 4.4.1829 22, 4 chn inf, s John 14.1.1864 51; Wm s of Jas W 12.2.1844 6; his s Walter 6.1.1853 17; ......Jeen McDonald..(rest of inscription bd)

There are a small number of Hislops/Hyslops/Heslops however, but no Agnes.

Thanks for looking Ian - could be interesting as Weirs married with McDonalds - gives me something else to investigate.
