I have ordered the book. The company said it was not possible for me to buy it because of BREXIT.

I explained that there is no problem.

They send the book, which is a gift, to my sister's house in Denmead, Hampshire. I send them £16.00 from my £ Sterling account, et voila! It's done. No customs issues nothing. It's not hard....
Let's see if they do it.

The book also seems to be available from Amazon in case anyone is interested.

Reply#25  -  The lady in question was Julia Paterson nee Allan wife of James Paterson skipper of the Beautiful Star. She was left a widow with 5 youngsters aged 6 to 18. The previous year one of their daughter's died aged 9. Life was indeed hard.

Julia was the daughter of Robert Allan and Agnes Meldrum. I am related to those St. Monans Meldrums. One of my great-grandmothers, Annie Meldrum, had a brother called Robert Allan Meldrum, skipper of the Cellardyke sailing Fifie "Onyx".
