Whats the Certificate situation like?
« on: Wednesday 26 April 06 21:47 BST (UK) »
Anyone ordered any certificates from the GRO? I should get some certificates tomorrow. (according to the date given at the time)

Is there any delays at the moment? Seems like i've already been waiting ages for these certificates!

Ta,

Paul.

The last one I got, I ordered on the 23rd Mar & it arrived 19th April, haven't worked out if that is the 15 working days they are quoting at the moment, I guess somewhere around it. Who remembers the glory days of 4 working days?! Still it is not just them is it, the local registrars are snowed under too and the record offices also. Must be a combination of the lengthy cold weather and 'Who do you think you are' Roll on spring - let's get some people back out in the garden!

I had one ordered 29/3 arrived Monday and one ordered 31/3 arrived yesterday, so a little better than it was a few weeks ago when it took more than five weeks.

Erratic I would say. I ordered one last Sun .week and was given a date of 14th May.

Of course it may well come earlier but I imagine that they are still being cautious after the latest "Who Do You Think You Are?" series.

Seems to calm down after the new crop of "newbies"(The more the merrier)

I just received a birth certificate I ordered on March 12 and it arrived yesterday.  So looks like it is still a bit slow.  Before I had them within  a week to 10 days.

Cheers

It seems to be hit and miss at the moment, but I think it is improving as I had an expected date of 25 April for some I ordered on 31 March and they all arrived around 25 April.

The last order were a week after the expected date.

Thanks, folks,

I was wondering this myself.  I am compiling a little list of ones I want, but am trying to wait till the rush has slowed down a bit - if it ever does!

I have found by ordering certificates over the phone they arrive much quicker than by ordering them online. you do pay £1 more for them.

My certifcate ordered 26th March on line came just a week ago, it seems they are taking a lot longer than normal.
