VANCE,MONTGOMERY,MARTIN Mary Agnes
« on: Saturday 08 July 06 06:45 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone
This looks like an amazing site.  :D  Can't wait to find some missing family in here!
My husbands family came from  22 Matilda St, near Sandy Row, Belfast. I am looking for any connections to a Mary Agnes Vance who married (1st) Hugh Montgomery and (2nd) Hugh Martin. I believe Hugh's father was a Joseph Martin? I have nothing on Hugh Montgomery. Mary had the following siblings that I know of, Jean, Elizabeth, Ena, Richard (Dickie) and Ruby. I have been told that the name Johnston or Johnson is also in the family (a Thomasina (Lena) Johnston/Johnson), as too is the name Major but do not know how or where?
If anyone can help me with the above, my hubby would be eternally grateful.
Thank you
Karen Martin

Hello Karen,

I've linked this thread to your Martin, Joseph & McCormish, Maggie thread.

Hi Karen , if you can supply actual names that lived at 22 Matilda Street and when, I'm sure someone will be able to find some info for you.

Hi Karen.

Could this be your Thomasins Johnston ?.

John Vance married Thomasina Johnston, on the 8 Jan., 1915, in St Aidan's Church of Ireland, Belfast.
St Aidan's C.o.I., is of the Donegal Road and is local to Matilda Street.

Hi Dixie
Looks promising. Well done, thank you. I am rapt & so is hubby. Can't wait to tell his family also. How do I now go about getting a copy of the marriage certs for Joseph Martin & John Vance? Will someone in the family have to apply for them in Belfast or can it be done locally??? I can access the relevent application form but will the info you gave me be enough?? Not sure re monies etc. I may be able to get one of hubbies sisters to go in for me if the info you gave me is all they need.
With the site you mentioned, 'Emerald Ancestors' can you give me the addy for it please.
Thank you again for doing that lookup for me and thank you to Christopher also.

Hi Karen.
If you go to the Belfast G.R.O., website at,
www.groni.gov.uk/index.htm
it has all the info you need.
You can order online using your credit card, or postal, or as you suggest, get someone to collect it for you, which if possible, may be the best option.
The info you have should be enough to get you a certificate. The cost is £11 for a certificate.
The address for Emerald Ancestors is,
www.emeraldancestors.com

Regards,
Dixie

Hi Dixie
Thank you for that. Will wait and see if family are willing to get them for me first, if not I will just go ahead and order from here.

Karen

Hi Karen

I am new to the site and am trying to piece together family tree information that my late uncle Joe Martin worked on.

So I think the Hugh Martin you refer to is my grandfather’s brother.
Do you have any info on the family tree?
Am trying also to figure out how best to collate the info, any advice appreciated!
