RUSSIA: Immigration from Marijampole
« on: Monday 10 July 06 20:50 BST (UK) »
My Grandfather, Kasis Andrusis, emmigrated from Marijampole in 1910 to Lancashire. I am trying to trace his family, and learn more about his reasons for leaving Russia. Does anyone have any information about immigration from this area?

Marijampole is actually in Lithuania. It was under Soviet occupation for many years, details of this can be obtained if you Google "marijampole". This may help you work out some possible reasons for his leaving there.

You could also try www.rootsweb.com/~easeurgw/
This should give sites for eastern european family history research, including Lithuania.
