which cemetry for for 1871 burial
« on: Wednesday 19 July 06 09:38 BST (UK) »
Trying to track down the one last burial site of family being researched.

Laura Ann Cooper born 5/11/1869 at Birmingham.
She died on 29/6/1871.  Her death certificate shows she died at Clifton Road Aston Manor and the cause of death was croup ( i think, writing is difficult to read)

the family has a history of being married, baptized in Church of England churches.

How do I find out which church to investigate to find out burial place? Is there a listing available anywhere? Do I contact individual churches with details, but which churches?

Ideas and advice greatly appreciated

There are some 116 COOPER buried at Aston St Peter & St Paul
but the last Cooper in the NBI2 is 1837.

Thank you for your response. This allows me to eliminate St Peter and St Paul.

Just out of interest what is NB12?

Nelle,

NBI 2 is National Burial Index version 2

It is an ongoing transcription project, making brief details of burials available on CD.
i.e. Name of deceased, date of burial, age, which church/cemetery

I don't know for sure but I suspect that it cuts off at 1837 because after that you can use the civil registration records to look for deaths (although not of course burial places).

So it is very likely that Coopers will have been buried at the church that Mike has detailed after 1837. In other words don't eliminate it - treat it as a likely candidate!

See this site for more details of NBI:

Hello Nelle
St.Mary's was the Parish church of Aston Brook in Aston Manor in 1871,but the burial place is likely to be Witton Rd. cemetery.
