Birth look-up please:-

My Scottish Gt Gt G/father David Murison was born in Quebec around 1824 to Alexander & Martha Murison.  By 1851 they were back in Montrose, Scotland.

1824 is too early for civil registration in Quebec.

Your only bet would be to search for a baptism for him. 

Have you checked the LDS website to see if they've filmed the appropriate church records in that timeframe:

Was Alexander in the army by any chance? If so then army baptisms (if the baptism was done by an army chaplain and not in a local church) go back as far as 1761. They are in the overseas section of the civil registration index (though this early any certificate produced by the GRO will be limited - details wise). You can check the overseas index at 1837online.
