Soldier and horse in bad way!

Please could a kind person work some magic on this photo.
It is a photo of my husband's g.uncle. His name was William James Allison and he was born<1902>. We would also like to identify his regiment. Heres hoping I manage to post this OK

at first glance I would say that he is a Lance Bombadier in the Royal Artillery.
