« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 09:46 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Can anyone find a Eliza Weeks in the 1841 census.
Born c1826 in Shaugh Prior.
Also a John and William Rickard/Richard/s, born c1821 and c1830 in Bratton Clovelly.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Many Thanks,

I know she married John in Stoke Damerel, and her children were all born there, with the excepion of her eldest who was born in Devonport.
I would hazard a guess that it is in that area somewhere, but can not say for certain.
I unfortunately don't know her parents, as she is not on the IGI.
I was hoping the census would high light something

Thanks

The only one I could find which fits is

Eliza Weeks aged 13
William Weeks aged 6

Both living East Stonehouse but there are no parents with them which is rather weird.

Best Wishes

Following on from the fact they were married in Stoke Dameral,I have found a possible John b 1826 with brother William b 1836 living in Cherry garden Street,Stoke Dameral with their father John, a carpenter b 1796 and James b 1833,Mary Jane b1839 and Thomas b 1828.

Were Eliza and William living with their grandparents perhaps? There is an elderly couple listed above their names in East Stonehouse in 1841. Can't quite make out the names though: Thomas and Susanna Sartin ? . Thomas' occupation is listed as "navy".

Yes, I did notice that and thought it was a possibly but theres a line between them, which indicates a seperate family living in the same house. If they were members of the above family the line wouldn't be there....or would it if the surnames are differant ?

Colleen,

Do you have any information on Eliza's parents? I found an Elizabeth Weeks age 30 in 1841 in Stoke Damerel occ "Ind" - presumably that means living on independent means....a possible.

Sorry for late reply all of yu, took kids out to park...unfortunately the only info i have is possible dates of birth and areas born, which i took from the later censues, but the john and william sound right to me, eliza would have been only 15 in the 1841 census, so not sure about the living on independent means one...i have asked devon records office to try locate something too but they have yet to find anything

All the best and thankyou,

Colleen
