Here's their marriage:-

England and Wales, Civil Registration Index: 1837-1983 records matching your search for
All Records > Birth, Marriage, & Death > England and Wales, Civil Registration Index: 1837-1983

Match Quality Name Year Quarter District County Volume Page .

Guy, Laura 1877 September Wellington Sal Shropshire 6a 1221
Holmes, George 1877 September Wellington Sal Shropshire 6a 1221
Micklewright, Ann 1877 September Wellington Sal Shropshire 6a 1221
TAYLOR, John 1877 September Wellington Sal Shropshire 6a 1221

They were married in 1877 so I looked in the 1881 census and found the following:-

Household:

Name  Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability

Laura TAYLOR   Head   M   Female   27   Shifnal, Shropshire, England
John GUY   Ill Son      Male   9   Walsall, Stafford, England   Scholar
Alfred GUY   Ill Son      Male   8   Wombridge, Shropshire, England   Scholar
William TAYLOR   Son      Male   3   Wombridge, Shropshire, England   Scholar

  Census Place Wombridge, Shropshire, England
  Family History Library Film   1341643
  Public Records Office Reference   RG11
  Piece / Folio   2682 / 36
  Page Number   63

Laura is listed as Head of the family, but note she is Married.  John must have been away from home on census night.  I did have a look but there are hundreds of John Taylor's listed!!!!!

Perhaps you could order the marriage certificate first which will give you his age, then you will know how old he was in 1881.  That will narrow the search down a bit!

Hope this helps

Jan :)
